Besiktas are willing to pay £21.5 million for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke according to the Mirror [via Haber7].
Per the source, Besiktas could pay up to £21.5 million or loan the Belgium international striker,
Benteke has struggled to settle in at Liverpool since his big money move from Aston Villa and Reds head coach Jurgen Klopp is reported to be open to letting the powerful striker leave.
Besiktas would however, struggle to offer Liverpool £21.5 million due to FFP restrictions. The Black Eagles would fall out of line with FFP and face to possibility of a one-year transfer ban if they paid out £21.5 million – unless they could recoup the fee with transfer sales this summer.
Liverpool would most likely not accept a £21.5 million bid even if Besiktas were to find the cash as Klopp wants £32.5 million according to the Echo.
Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik meanwhile report that Liverpool are locked in negotiations with Besiktas over loaning Benteke.
A loan deal is a far more likely option consider Benteke’s asking price and Besiktas do have a good record with loan signings. The Black Eagles signed Mario Gomez on a temporary move last season and he managed to turn around his career in Turkey wining the league title and earning a recall to the Germany national team setup.
