Turkish Giants Prepare Move For Chelsea Striker Who Has Under 12 Months Left On His Contract

Besiktas are preparing a move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud according to the Fanatik sports newspaper.

Per the source, the Black Eagles are in the transfer market for a striker to replace Alvaro Negredo.

The Spanish international had his contract terminated through mutual consent before joining UAE outfit Al Nassr.

The Istanbul giants have yet to make an offer for Giroud but are set to launch a move over the winter transfer window.

Recently appointed Besiktas vice-president Serdal Adali is set to lead talks once an official bid is made.

The French striker has under 12 months remaining on his contract and will be available as a free transfer at the end of the season unless the Blues extend his current deal.

Besiktas would have to pay Chelsea a fee if they plan to sign him in January.

With Negredo out of the picture Besiktas will have to make do with Cyle Larin, Mustafa Pektemek and Vagner Love upfront.

Giroud has three goals in four Premier League games this term but has started just once – the 4-1 win over Cardiff City where he scored a brace.
