Turkish League Previews 19: Title Race Beginning To Take Shape

The 19th round of the 2017-18 Super Lig season is about to kick off. The title race is beginning to take shape as a nine-point gap has now opened up between leaders Basaksehir and seventh-placed Trabzonspor. Meanwhile just six points seperate the top four. We could see a meaningful gap open up at the table of the table for the first time this season by the end of the week

Our current record for picks stand at 49 wins 33 loss.

Besiktas vs Kasimpasa

Besiktas will be hoping to build upon last weeks victory against Antalyaspor. Anderson Talisca was brilliant and with the end of his loan stay nearing the cynic in me would not be surprised to see the Brazilian play consistently well until the end of the season. The Black Eagles simple have too much in the arsenal even after losing Cenk Tosun to Everton.

Prediction: Besiktas Win

Genclerbirligi vs Konyaspor

A relegation zone special… best to avoid this one.

Alanyaspor vs Bursaspor

Alanyaspor are in dreadful form and could well have lost star striker Vagner Love to Besiktas by match day. Bursaspor have not exactly been brilliant either but I expect the Green Crocodiles to bounce back.

Prediction: Bursaspor -0 (Draw No Bet)

Goztepe vs Kayserispor

Both sides lost last week and fell nine points off the leaders. This is a must win game for both sides if they want to keep pace with the top four. Goztepe have had by far the toughest run and played remarkably well against Fenerbahce last week. I fancy the home side, they are better balanced and more organised.

Prediction: Goztepe Win

Galatasaray vs Osmanlispor

It is really difficult to see Osmanlispor escaping the Lions den with even a point with the form they are in.

Prediction: Galatasaray Win

Malatyaspor vs Sivasspor

Avoid!

Akhisar vs Antalyaspor

Avoid again!

Trabzonspor vs Fenerbahce

The game of the week sees title challengers Fenerbahce take on Trabzonspor who are at risk of dropping out the race. It is worth noting that these two sides have become huge rivals over past few years. Expect a raucous atmosphere. The Black Sea Storm are capable of challenging anyone on their day. No team in the top four have been able to defeat them and they have won their last four home games. Meanwhile Fenerbahce have won 10 of their last 11 games in all competitions. A great record! but a misleading one as they have not faced a top four side and played against just one team in the top six. The Yellow Canaries are not exactly playing beautiful football. They are however, effective, organised and disciplined under Aykut Kocaman. I do however, feel Trabzonspor have the edge at home.

Prediction: Trabzonspor -0 (Draw No Bet)
