Turkish League Previews 2: Who Will Settle First?

The most striking thing we learned from the opening week of Super Lig games was just how unprepared teams were. Several teams do not look ready but lucky for them the transfer window runs until 1 September.

Bursaspor vs Kayserispor

Prediction: Bursaspor Win   Loss

Antalyaspor vs Konyaspor

Prediction: Konyaspor -0 (Draw No Bet) PUSH

Malatyaspor vs Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce are starting to resemble the kind of team Phillip Cocu probably envisioned when he took charge earlier this summer but they still need a lot of work. Islam Slimani may make his debut. Andre Ayew clearly needs to get in shape. Valbuena and Dirar look like they are still on holiday. And they still need a centre-back. Fortunately, 18-year-old Elif Elmas and 21-year-old Baris Alici look really exciting and are two players well worth keeping a close eye on. Malatya away is never an easy trip. They will make things difficult for Fenerbahce who are still recovering mentally from crashing out of the Champions League Third Round tie against Benfica.

Prediction: Draw LOSS

Akhisar vs Rizespor

The Turkish Cup and Super Cup champions Akhisar are to team to back right now. Rizespor could struggle this season.

Prediction: Akhisar Win LOSS

Erzurum vs Besiktas

Erzurum look like an unassembled flatpack from Ikea that will eventually turn into a sturdy piece of furniture but until then we will back Besiktas who despite their flaws are reasonably well settled.

Prediction: Besiktas -0 (Draw No Best) WIN

Alanyaspor vs Ankaragucu

Stay well clear of this one.

Galatasaray vs Goztepe

Galatasaray look like title favorites again this year but they also have glaring problems. Bafetimbi Gomis looks like he could be on his way out. Feghouli has been looking a little off the pace. The defence looks a mess.

Prediction: Galatasaray Win WIN

Kasimpasa vs Basaksehir

The mini Istanbul derby sees a pretty decent looking Kasimpasa side against the most organised club in the league. In fact, Basaksehir are the only team that actually look ready for the season and I do no see them losing.

Prediction: Basaksehir -0 LOSS
