Turkish League Previews 30: The Title Race Rages On After Mid-Week Derby Madness

Most top leagues in Europe have already been wrapped up but it is still game on in the Super Lig.

The Turkish title race is a four-horse race between Basaksehir, Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray which could perk your interest if you are interested in Betting on football.

Basaksehir beat Kayserispor 3-1 on Friday to move into first place, overtaking previous leaders Galatasaray by a single point.

Galatasaray have the chance to move back into pole position if they beat Alanyaspor. Besiktas will join Basaksehir on 62 points if they win and a Fenerbahce victory narrows the gap with current leaders to just two points.

Alanyaspor vs Galatasaray

Galatasaray won their first Istanbul derby of the season beating Basaksehir 2-0 at home. The problem the Lions have had this season is however, their away form. The Istanbul giants have won just one of the last five away games in the league. Fatih Terim’s side have won their last four games against Alanyaspor. Additionally only Karabukspor have a worse home record than the Mediterranean based side. I do get the feeling Alanyaspor will raise their game against Galatasaray as is so often the case when the big boys come to town. They also happen to be desperate for points in a relegation battle but I just cannot see the Lions blowing this one. A defeat? unlikely! a draw? perhaps!

Prediction: Galatasaray Draw No Bet WIN

Akhisar vs Goztepe

Akhisar are in free fall, hurtling to the bottom of the league table. Goztepe meanwhile have been impressive of late and want to finish as high up the table as possible on their first season back to the Super Lig after years in the lower tiers.

Konyaspor vs Kasimpasa

Kasimpasa have been brilliant lately, keeping three clean sheets in their last three games. I do not see Konyaspor finding a way through the visitors brick wall. We are riding the Kasimpasa train until it derails.

Prediction: Kasimpasa Draw No Bet LOSS

Besiktas vs Malatyaspor

Senol Gunes suffered mild concussion, received five stitches and spent the night in hospital after being struck by a metallic object from a Fenerbahce fan. Just your average Istanbul derby… The Besiktas boss returned to camp like a war veteran. Expect an incredible home atmosphere. I fully expect Malatyaspor to be blown away.

Prediction: Besiktas Win WIN

Fenerbahce vs Antalyaspor

After the mid-week derby debacle, Fenerbahce will be wanting to put all that behind them. The Yellow Canaries have no option but to win. If they can’t beat Antalyaspor at home well they do not deserve to be in the title race.

Prediction: Fenerbahce Win WIN
