Turkish League Previews 24: Can Galatasaray End Their Away Funk? Besiktas Set For Third Derby In A Week

Three points separate fourth place Fenerbahce from leaders Galatasaray heading into the 24th round of the Super Lig.

Our current record for picks stand at 60 wins 47 loss.

Bursaspor vs Kayserispor

Bursaspor have been abysmal. They are usually tough at home but it is really difficult to back a team devoid of confidence. Kayserispor meanwhile still have a slim hope of a top four finish.

Prediction: Kayserispor +0.5 (Asian Handicap)

Kasimpasa vs Osmanlispor

Keep fading Osmanlispor.

Prediction: Kasimpasa Win

Basaksehir vs Goztepe

Basaksehir have looked shaky in 2018… since the arrival of Arda Turan… coincidence?

Goztepe will not be a pushover. The Izmir giants have already exceeded expectations this season but have not given up yet. In fact they still have a very slim chance of making the top four which they will pursue until it becomes mathematically impossible.

I expect the visitors to give Basaksehir a run for their money.

Prediction: Goztepe +0.5 (Asian Handicap)

Karabukspor vs Galatasaray

There are two important stats worth considering ahead of this game. Karabukspor have lost 13 of their last 15 games. Galatasaray have lost six of their last seven away games. You can almost guarantee the home side will at least attempt to raise their game as is often the case when one of the big four come to town. The question is can the Lions shake off their away demons? The Istanbul giants are favorites, make no doubt about it but their form on the road is worrying. The safer option could be going for goals, neither side has been capable of defending recently.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goals

Genclerbirligi vs Alanyaspor

Avoid!

Konyaspor vs Malatyaspor

Avoid!

Fenerbahce vs Akhisar

This may come as a surprise but Akhisar are the most inform team in the league having won their last three successive games. Fenerbahce meanwhile have spent few involved in a boxing match with Besiktas culminating in three red cards and Fernandao picking up a suspension. How much have Fenerbahce got left in the tank? they should win at home but Akhisar will not make things easy. To make matters worse the home side are facing a bit of an injury crisis and may struggle to break the visitors down.

Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals

Antalyaspor vs Sivasspor

Both sides have been very unpredictable, best to avoid this one.

Trabzonspor vs Besiktas

Just like Fenerbahce, Besiktas will be feeling a bit battered and bruised after their derby wars. Ricardo Quaresma will be suspended but Pepe and Anderson Talisca are back. Trabzonspor have not been at their best but are one of the toughest teams to face away from home. This is a really tough game to call. The Black Sea based side have been struggling for goals but there will be scouts from major European clubs monitoring how the likes of Yusuf Yazici and Abdulkadir Omur do against top opposition. Expect everyone to raise their game. I still think Besiktas have too much in their arsenal and do tend to perform better in the league against the top sides who do not park the bus.

Prediction: Besiktas +0.5 (Asian Handicap)
