Turks Abroad: Cengiz Under Strikes Again, Calhanoglu Shines For AC Milan

Cengiz Under – Roma

The Roma starlet netted yet another important goal for the Serie A outfit. The 20-year-old scored the winner in the 1-0 victory away to Cagliari. The Giallorossi did not exactly put on a stellar showing but Under’s finish was ever so classy. The young gun now has eight goals and two assists in all competitions this season.

Cenk Tosun – Everton

Tosun painted a frustrated figure up front. We have come to expect the Turkey international being starved of service. The 26-year-old has scored five goals with just eight shots on target. Just makes you wonder how many he would have had Sam Allardyce decided to opt for a more attacking approach. The striker failed to add to his goal tally in the 1-1 draw against Southampton. In fact he did not take a shot on target.

Hakan Calhanoglu – AC Milan

The free-kick maestro who no longer regularly scores from set-pieces was in great form yet again. Calhanoglu has really come along since Gattuso took charge. The Turkey international scored the opening goal in the 4-1 win over Verona putting on a man of the match display. The 24-year-old created two goal-scoring opportunities, most of the play ran by him in the attacking third. Calhanoglu pulled strings in midfield but his defensive work will probably have pleased the boss more than anything. The former Bayer man has always been renowned for his attacking talent but the manager has questioned his willingness to get stuck in at times this season. Calhangolu made several tackles and interceptions, working hard off the ball and closing down the opposition.

Umit Bozok – Nimes

Congratulations to Mr Bozok on helping his side Nimes achieve promotion to Ligue 1 after a tremendous season scoring 25 times and providing two assists in 36 appearances. The big question is… will he or won’t he play for Turkey?
