Turks Abroad Wrap: Ozil assists Arsenal to victory, Inler joins the Premier League

After an eventful summer Turks Abroad is back. The bearded winger Arda Turan was involved in a dramatic transfer saga which span between England and Spain. The bearded winger looked destined for a Premier League move before Barcelona – who are still serving a transfer ban – entered the fray and snapped him up for £24 million. Elsewhere Bursaspor wonder-kid Enes Ünal was signed on a a £2 million move by Manchester City while 19-year-old and Napoli midfielder of Turkish origin Gökhan İnler is expected to join Leicester City.

Mesut Ozil

Mesut Özil bounced back from a difficult afternoon last week with a phenomenal performance against Crystal Palace. The 26-year-old provided an assist and maintained a passing accuracy of 98% during his sides 2-1 victory.

Arda Turan

Arda Turan has been enjoying his extended break due to Barcelona’s transfer ban. The Turkish international did however show off his new home in Barcelona.

Gokhan Inler

Gökhan Inler has joined the Premier League side Leicester City this week on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 31-year-old could make his debut for his new club this weekend against Tottenham.

Emre Can

Emre Can was left on the bench once again this week but came on in his favoured midfield position in place of club captain Jordan Henderson. Can’s side are joint top in the Premier Leauge after two weeks.

Nadir Çiftçi

Nadir Çiftçi missed Celtic’s Premier League game due to his five-game suspension.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu

Hakan Çalhanoğlu played the full 90 minutes in Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-1 win over Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga over the weekend. The Turkish international also featured in his sides defeat at the hands of Lazio in the UEFA Champions League qualification game.

Enes Ünal:

Enes Ünal played six minutes in Genk’s 2-1 victory over Westerlo in the Belgium league.

Bilal Basaçikoglu

Bilal Basaçikoglu provided an assist for Feyenoord’s opening goal in their 2-0 win over Cambuur in the Eredivisle. Feyenoord sit in second place with two wins in two games.
