Arsenal boss Unai Emery has shed light on Mesut Ozil’s absence during his post-match press conference.
The Gunners were in impressive form on Sunday and registered an emphatic 5-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Alexander Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice while Aaron Ramsey also got himself on the scoresheet.
Mesut Ozil watched the weekend encounter from the stands after pulling out with an injury.
The former Germany international pulled due to a back spasm he suffered on Sunday. Arsenal boss Unai Emery confirmed the injury after the game and stated that Ozil was unable to train.
“Yesterday he came in with pain and he cannot train yesterday or play today,” Emery stated.
Arsenal have now racked up an impressive nine victories in a row. The north London based club are back in action on October 22 when they host Leicester City at the Emirates stadium.
Ozil will be well rested by then after retiring from the Germany national team. The 29-year-old has scored three goals in his last five games for the Gunners.
