Arsenal have been closely linked with Feyenoord attacking midfielder Orkun Kokcu over the past few months.

The Daily Mail reported that the Gunners are prepared to offer £23m for the U21 Turkey international.

Feyenoord manager Dick Advocaat admitted there is interest in Kokcu just a few days ago but that he has not been informed that Arsenal have sent club officials to the Netherlands for talks.

“It seems that what I read is true. But no one has yet come to Feyenoord (to make their interest clear),” Advocaat told Fox Sports.

Former Nottingham Forrest striker Pierre van Hooijdonk has had his say on the matter.

He believes it is too early for Kokcu to make a move to Arsenal as he has yet to prove himself.

Van Hooijdonk was quoted by Tribal Football as saying: “Of course it is a lot of money for a ‘potential purchase’.

“With all due respect, everyone sees that he is a talent, but he has not played 34 games in Feyenoord’s first-team as a supporting man.

“His quality is, among other things, his scoring ability, but we have seen that too little this season. He can become a very good player, but I don’t think 26 million is worth it yet.

“I think it would be a shame to see such a player go to Arsenal; he hasn’t even had one super season yet.”

The 19-year-old has scored just three times this season but he does have six assists in 35 appearances across all competitions for Feyenoord.

Kokcu represents Turkey at international level but has yet to earn his first cap for the senior side.

The attacking midfielder has not been called up for the senior side and has no guarantee of making the squad for Euro 2020 this summer.

Kokcu recently signed a new contract deal with Feyenoord keeping him at the club until 2023.

Feyenoord are however, considering offering him an improved contract to keep him on at the club beyond the end of the season.
