Arda Turan is finally back after a long wait on the sidelines but he will be hoping to avoid a repeat of what happened the last time he played in the Copa del Rey.
Ironically Turan was facing his current side Barcelona in the semi-final stages when he saw red and responded to his boot coming off in a challenge by throwing it at the assistant referee.
The boot narrowly missed the official’s head and resulted in the Turkish international being shown a yellow card.
The referee Gil Manzano saw the incident and showed Turan a yellow card for dissent according to Inside Spanish Football.
Atleti ended up losing the game 3-2 and bowing out of the competition that Turan has previously won in the past.
Turan’s teammates saw the funny side of the incident and decided they would reward the bearded one with a cake shaped as a football boot to celebrate his 28th birthday.
The bearded winger is expected to make his Barcelona debut today against Espanyol in the Spanish Cup Last 16 first-leg tie.
