Fenerbahçe were held to a 1-1 draw against Celtic at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium but it was enough to see them progress to the Europa League Round of 32.
The Yellow Canaries got off to a great start and Mehmet Topal almost put the home side ahead when he hit the post early on.
The Istanbul giants did eventually take the lead just six minutes before half-time when Lazar Markovic made the most of Celtic goalkeeper Gordon making a hash of a simple save to slot the ball into the back of the net.
Fenerbahçe could have doubled their lead on more than a few occasions in the second half but a moment of madness saw Diego see red. The Brazilian who provided Markovic with the assist in the first half and who otherwise had a decent game was sent off for senselessly kicking out at a Celtic player.
Celtic managed to get back in the game soon after when Commons scored just a minute after being brought on for Allan.
The Scottish side were however, unable to find a winner and the draw meant Fenerbahçe booked a place in the next round at the expense of Ajax who drew 1-1 against Molde.
