Fenerbahce did not really have a lot to celebrated following a disastrous 4-1 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Match Day 3 in the Europa League.
There was however, one Fenerbahce player who deserved praise. Robin van Persie put on a decent display and ended up scoring a consolation goal for his team.
United fans showed that they still have a place in their heart for the Dutch striker as they joined Fenerbahce fans in chanting his name in one of the most memorable moments of the night.
I was at the stadium last night and the atmosphere was already amazing with the deafening away fans but when both sets of fans showed their respect to Van Persie it was electrifying. Just about every fan stood on their feet and even Sir Alex Ferguson applauded him.
