Was Liverpool Star Emre Can Misinterpreted Regarding Comments About Playing For A ‘Very Big Club Next Season’

Liverpool star Emre Can caused quite a stir on Wednesday following comments made in an interview with German publication Süddeutsche Zeitung.

The Liverpool Echo translated Can as saying: “Sure, the Bundesliga would interest me, why not? Although I must say honestly that the level has waned in recent years.

“The Premier League has the power to spend more money on players than the Bundesliga . This is very, very important for players.

“I have the self-confidence to say that my qualities are sufficient to play in a very big club next season.”

This was interpreted as the 24-year-old starting he feels he is at a level to play for a bigger club next season.

The big question was whether he thought Liverpool were not a ‘very big club’ and if this was a hint that he will be leaving.

Liverpool fans did not react well to the interview.

But was Can misinterpreted? The LFCTransfer Twitter account believe so. They feel the interview was taken out of context and translated the bits that were missed out. Such as the midfielder of Turkish origin speaking highly of Jurgen Klopp, describing Liverpool as a club with ‘massive history’ and feeling part of the club family.

To be fair he did actually say he wants to play for a ‘very big club’ but it is clear he does see Liverpool as a massive team as well.
