Watch: ‘I Love To Play For This Club’ – Man City Hero Urges Team Not To Get Complacent As It Is Just ‘Middle Of The Season’

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan was the star of the show in the 4-0 victory over Basel in the Champions League First-Leg Clash on Tuesday.

Gundogan scored twice against the Swiss giants, his first brace since the 3-1 win over Barcelona in the same competition last season.

You could understand if City fans started believing they could be on the verge of something special this season.

The Citizens are first in the Premier League and have just taken a massive step towards reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.

Gundogan did however, urge caution after the game and refused to get carried away.

The midfielder of Turkish origin underlined that City are just mid-way through the season and have won nothing yet.

Gundogan had the following to say after the game: “I love to play for this club, for this manager, for these teammates, it’s just fun you know

“Every single guy understands and is feeling it and can see it that we are a very special group that we have a very special atmosphere

“At the end it is still the middle of the season and very tough weeks are coming, big games are coming, deciding games are coming so we need to be ready.”
