Besiktas suffered their second successive away defeat in the Super Lig, losing 1-0 on the road to Basaksehir in the Istanbul derby.

The victory moved Basaksehir six points clear of Besiktas at the top of the league table.

Alexandru Epureanu scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute.

The goal highlighted Besiktas’ defensive problems and called into question the goalkeeping ability of Liverpool loanee Loris Karius.

The Black Eagles have now conceded three similar goals at the far post this season.

Rizespor, Konyaspor and now Basaksehir have all scored a goal that could have been prevented by putting a man on the far post.

Alternatively, had Besiktas defended better from corner kicks they may not have conceded as many goals from similar competitions.

It also raises the question as to whether Karius was also to blame? should he deal better with aerial balls?

Karius has now conceded 16 goals in 11 starts for the Black-Whites since completing his temporary move from Liveprool over the summer.
