Watch: Scouting £35m Arsenal Target Caglar Soyuncu Performance Goal Against Tunisia

Caglar Soyuncu

Arsenal have been closely linked with a move for Freiburg centre-back Caglar Soyuncu.

The defender has himself confirmed Gunners interest, describing them as a huge club and revealing that he is set to hold talks after the international break as reported by Turkish-Football.

Frieburg value their star man as being worth £35 million.

Soyuncu started for Turkey in the 2-1 victory over Iran on Monday putting on a stellar defensive display.

The 22-year-old started again in the 2-2 draw against Tunisia on Friday as the left centre-back, scoring a last-gasp equaliser in what was his first international goal.

Despite his age, the defender is a natural leader and had to be in what was an otherwise shaky defence.

Soyuncu made several important tackles and interceptions throughout the game.

The defender closed down the opposition and broke at pace after winning back possession, putting his silky dribbling ability to use hitting Tunisia on the counter-attack.

For a defender Soyuncu is remarkably confident on the ball, he not only spots forward runs but has the passing range to pick out his attackers.

The rising star played as a forward at youth level which goes some way to explaining his impressive technique for a defender.

His positioning and finish for the goal would have made a striker proud.

One concern would be his temper. Aggression is an important attribute for a defender if channeled properly. Soyuncu is a fiery character but he has to learn to use it to his advantage. The booking he picked up for protesting a foul awarded against him was needless.

Below are some of the key highlights from the game.

Soyuncu is set to start again against Russia next.
