“We know they have defensive issues” – Lawro reveals prediction for West Ham v Liverpool clash

Former Liverpool star Mark Lawrenson has revealed his prediction for the Reds clash with West Ham United this weekend.

Liverpool will be looking to increase their winning run to three games as they look to muscle back in on the title race.

Jurgen Klopp’s side recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Maribor in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night. The Reds defeated Huddersfield by the same scoreline last weekend.

Lawrenson believes Liverpool will record yet another comfortable win this weekend against the Hammers.

The BBC pundit also defended West Ham boss Slaven Bilic and hopes the former Croatia international does not get the sack. Lawrenson went onto predict a 2-0 win for Liverpool tonight.

“West Ham have got some decent players but they are struggling for defenders this weekend. They need to get some defenders fit,” Lawrenson told the BBC.

“You look at Slaven Bilic’s squad and think they should be in that middle group in the Premier League and should be comfortable.

“Liverpool have played a couple of games since they lost 4-1 at Tottenham and Klopp has been clever by playing nearly the same team. He did that to tell his players: prove I am not wrong and show you are decent players.

“We know they have defensive issues but it is very rare you make so many poor decisions in a game that costs you so many goals like they did at Wembley. Tottenham didn’t really have to create the goals.”

Liverpool won comfortably at London Stadium at the end of last season and I think they will win again. But I hope it doesn’t mean Bilic will lose his job – because that would be ridiculous.

Germany international Emre Can has been included in the Liverpool squad which traveled down to London. The 23-year-old scored for Liverpool during their win over Maribor. Liverpool can move into the top four with a win tonight.
