Wenger Could Have First Job Since Arsenal Exit After Former Scout Targets French Manager

Arsene Wenger

Fenerbahce appointed Damien Comolli as sporting director on Tuesday, the first appointment following Ali Koc winning the presidential election.

The next big question is who will take over Aykut Kocaman as manager.

Fanatik seem to believe Arsene Wenger is in the running and make a pretty convincing case.

Per the source, Comolli wants to use his close ties to Wenger to persuade him into considering the role.

Comolli worked under the stewardship of Wenger over a seven-year period between 1996-2003 at the North London based club.

Wenger was in Turkey recently but it turned out he was just on holiday with David Dein who regularly visits the south coast where he has a yacht.

Dein does have close ties to Koc and has provided advice over the future direction of the club.

Fenerbahce have drawn up a five-man managerial shortlist.

The report does state that Real Madrid are also interested and should the Champions League winners actually make an offer, Fenerbahce would stand little chance of prizing Wenger away.
