“Went missing again” – Mesut Ozil slammed by John Cross following Arsenal defeat to Man City

Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil played the full 90 minutes during his sides defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

The Gunners were on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline at the Emirates Stadium.

Ozil started the game in a deeper midfield role where he worked hard to track the runs of Benjamin Mendy. In the second half Ozil was pushed into a more advanced role.

However, Mirror Cheif Writer John Cross was not impressed by the former Germany international’s performance.

Cross stated that wearing the number 10 jersey added nothing to Ozil’s game and that he went missing again in a big game.

“Given the No10 shirt and it did not give him anything extra. Went missing again. Poor,” Cross wrote in the Mirror.

Ozil took 55 touches on the ball, made two key passes and maintained a passing accuracy of 78%.

Arsenal are back in action this weekend with a tough trip across London to take on Chelsea. The Blues defeated Huddersfield 3-0 in their opening game of the season.
