West Brom sent club officials to Turkey to keep tabs on Trabzonspor target Okay Yokuslu.
A source close to the player revealed to Turkish-Football that the Baggies have been scouting the Turkey international.
Several other European sides have also been monitoring the 23-year-old midfielder who has been in fine form this season.
Yokuslu put in another impressive display, despite the 2-0 defeat to reigning Super Lig champions Besiktas.
The central midfielder had more touches on the ball (98) than any other player in the game.
The Turkey international put in a stellar defensive display winning five aerial duals and making key interceptions.

The Trabzonspor star helped his side regain possession in midfield, pulling off 76 passes and a 90 percent accuracy.
The powerful midfielder also posed a threat in the final third. Yokuslu completed more successful dribbles than any other player (6) and created a key goal scoring chance.
Trabzonspor ruled out selling Yokuslu last summer and over the January window but are now prepared to let the Turkey international leave for the right price.
The Black Sea Storm have given West Brom the green light to sign Yokuslu if they are prepared to match their €8 million valuation.
Yokuslu is keen on a Premier League move and his representatives are also pushing for him to leave the Super Lig.
The rising star has nine goals and five assists in 98 appearances for Trabzonspor.
