West Brom U21 3-2 Newcastle U21: Barlaser free-kick goal not enough to prevent defeat

Newcastle United U21s finished the season with a 3-2 defeat to West Brom U21s at the Hawthorns.Tyler Roberts gave West Brome the lead but Callum Roberts equalised with a long range effort soon after.

Tahvon Campbell scored a late brace to increased the home sides lead to a two goal margin.

Dan Barlaser scored a stunning free-kick to pull one back but it was not enough to spur his side on for another goal.

Barlaser was born in Gateshead, Newcastle and has been a regular for Peter Beardsley’s Under-21s this season.

The promising midfielder was part of the Newcastle first team matchday squad for December’s Capital One Cup quarter-final tie at Tottenham Hotspur.

Barlaser is of Turkish descent and represents the Turkish U-17 side at international level.

The 18-year-old has made 15 appearances for the Turkish national team at youth level.
