West Ham Bid £19.7m For Croatia International Amid Reports That Liverpool Have Had Offer Accepted, Turkish Giants Demand Higher Fee

Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida has been receiving new offers just about every day since the start of the World Cup according to the Turkish papers.

The latest report comes from one of the strongest sources yet to report on the Vida situation.

Turkish Super Lig broadcaster BEIN have reported West Ham launching an official bid for the Croatia international.

Per the source, the Hammers have bid £19.7m [€22m] but that Besiktas are demanding more.

The report does claim that negotiations are ongoing.

The latest development comes in complete contrast to what the papers have been reporting the last few days.

On Wednesday the Aksam newspaper reported that Liverpool bid £20m for Vida to which Besiktas accepted.

Personal talks are expected to go ahead.

Meanwhile, the Fanatik newspaper reported today that the Reds have now offered Daniel Sturridge in a part-exchange deal.

Besiktas reportedly snubbed the proposal and are demanding a transfer fee.

Besiktas manager Senol Gunes did hint that Vida could be headed for a summer exit.

“If Vida does we will need two defenders to replace him, all I can do it wait, if he does not return we need replacements,” Gunes said speaking at the team camp in Austria.

“Every player has a price there is no such thing as a player who can’t be sold.”

The Black Eagles signed Vida on a free transfer from Dynamo Kiev in January but are prepared to sell the defender after seeing his valuation skyrocket over the World Cup.

The powerful defender started every game for the Croatia side that reached the final.
