West Ham United made €3.5m bid for Besiktas midfielder

Besiktas v Olympiakos

Besiktas have confirmed that West Ham United made a €3.5 million bid for the Canada international Atiba Hutchinson a close source to the club told Turkish-football.

However, the bid was turned down as it did not match Besiktas’ valuation for the 33-year-old midfielder.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has a close relationship with Hutchinson who has another year remaining on his current contract. Besiktas have yet to enter contact extension talks with the star midfielder.

The experienced midfielder established himself as a key member of the Besiktas side under the stewardship of Bilic during his two-year stint in charge of the club. The Canadian international also played a major role in the Black Eagles winning the league title last season.

Bilic also has close ties to Tore who was another player to thrive during his time as manager of the Istanbul giants.

Hutchinson is currently on holiday and has yet to make a decision on his future. The Hammers are however, locked in talks with Besiktas over the transfer of Tore.
