“Will he be a starter?” – Liverpool boss takes swipe at former star Emre Can

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has taken the opportunity to highlight Emre Can’s lack of football at Juventus.

Can was a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven last season and even featured in the UEFA Champions League final despite failing to sign a new contract.

The 23-year-old ended up leaving Liverpool for free over the summer to join Serie A champions Juventus.

However, it has been a slow start for Emre Can at his new club. The combative midfielder has found himself starting on the bench for Juve’s opening three games of the season.

Can has played a total of 44 minutes so far this season out of a possible 270.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reiterated the fact that young players are finding playing time hard to come by.

The German tactician also questioned whether Can will ever be a starter for Juventus.

“If a German international makes a move to England he probably doesn’t start as often (in the Premier League) as he did before,” Klopp told the Telegraph.

“It happens in other countries too. Emre Can didn’t start so far for Juve. Will he be a starter?”
