Newly promoted Premiere League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have joined the race to sign Fenerbahce midfielder Josef de Souza.

A source close to the Istanbul Giants has revealed to Turkish-Football.com Wolves have been in contact with Fenerbahce to enquire about the availability of De Souza.

However, Fenerbahce are not prepared to make any decision regarding their star midfielder until the club’s Presidential election takes place next month.

Josef de Souza’s current contract with Fenerbahce expires next summer, which could force the club into selling him if they are unable to agree on an extension.

Fenerbahce boss Aykut Kocaman is keen to keep hold of the Brazilian midfielder. De Souza played a key role for Fenerbahce this season. The 29-year-old provided two assists and scored four goals in 41 appearances for the Yellow Canaries.

Fenerbahce will be able to offer De Souza UEFA Champions League football next season after finishing the season in second place.
