Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the transfer race for Wilfried Zaha but face competition from Crystal Palace and Leicester City according to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Per the source, Wolves priority is Carlos Borges but they are also interested in Zaha.

“Yeah, he’s [Zaha] one of the names [linked with Wolves]. But what I’m hearing is that their priority remains Carlos Borges as a winger to replace Pedro Neto. Let’s see if they can find a way with Ajax,” Romano said as reported by Givemesport.

“The player will be keen on the move, keen on returning to Premier League football, but still no agreement with Ajax, so they are exploring alternatives at the moment.

“For Zaha, it is not that easy, as several clubs were interested in the player, but Palace, Leicester, all of them understood it was not that easy to get the deal done with Galatasaray, so let’s see. It could be one of the last minute names, but still nothing guaranteed”

Wolves are seeking a replacement for Pedro Neto, who joined Chelsea earlier in the transfer window. While there has been speculation surrounding Zaha, Borges is the club’s priority signing.

However, Wolverhampton Wanderers face challenges in securing Borges’ transfer. The Dutch winger’s current club, Ajax, may be reluctant to sell him, and negotiations are ongoing. The club has explored alternative options, including Zaha, but Borges remains their primary target.

Zaha meanwhile, faces an uncertain future, he has been left out of the squad so far this season but his high wages and tax situation are proving problematic in finding a new club.

The Ivory Coast international is still under contract at Galatasaray until 2026 and will stay at the club.
