Turkish midfielder Yunus Akgün’s future remains uncertain as his loan spell at Leicester City nears its end according to Aksam.

Sent from Galatasaray last summer with a conditional purchase option, questions arise about his return to the Turkish club.

The option hinges on Leicester reaching the Premier League and Akgün playing 25 matches, including 11 starts. Currently, Akgün has only started 8 matches, making the full-time move unlikely based on the 11-start clause.

Despite limited starts, Akgün has contributed with 2 goals and 2 assists in 761 minutes across 18 appearances. However, Leicester hasn’t communicated their intentions regarding activating the purchase option or pursuing other arrangements.

The winger is part of the first team but has not established himself as a key player yet in the side.

With the option seemingly out of reach, Akgün’s return to Galatasaray appears increasingly likely. However, Leicester retains the right to purchase him independently of the initial conditions.

Akgün’s playing time at Leicester raises doubts about the purchase option however, his performances have been positive, contributing to goals and assists.

Leicester’s decision on his future remains unclear, the club have yet to comment on the future of the 23-year-old.

The Foxes are currently first in the Championship, 11 points clear of Southampton who are second and look likely to ensure promotion to the Premier League next season.
