Arsenal boss Wenger insists Mesut Ozil will not be joining Juve

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has insisted that reports linking Mesut Özil with a move to Juventus are not true.

The Italian newspaper Tuttomercato recently claimed that Juventus would use the money if Pogba was sold to sigh the Germany international.

“Look, I never spoke to him on that front or on a football front as well,” Wenger told SkySports.

“But the suggestions are created always by people who – I don’t know, want to create news, but there is nothing concrete in that.

“He’s an important player for our team and he’s a player of course we count on to continue our development and our success.”

Özil joined Arsenal two summers ago from Real Madrid for a record £42.5 million transfer fee and has been in top form in recent months following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to an injury.

The Germany international has won two Vitality Arsenal Player of the Month and a PFA Fans Player of the Month award since the turn of the year.

The World Cup winner provided nine assists and five goals in 32 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions last season.

Özil spent his summer holiday in Los Angeles but has since returned to Arsenal for pre-season training and is expected to remain at the club next season.
