Arsenal star Mesut Ozil dreams of playing at the Rio 2016 Olympics

Arsenal star Mesut Özil has stated that playing at the 2016 Olympics which are hosted in Rio de Janeiro.

Players must be under the age of 23 to play at the Olympics however, three over-age players are allowed in each country’s squad.

The Olympic Games take place from August 5 to August 21, less than a month after the end of Euro 2016.

“Playing at the Olympics would be a dream,” Ozil told SID (via thenational)

“But I understand that it would be difficult to implement due to the scheduling requirements.”

Özil is expected to feature in Germany’s Euro 2016 qualification encounter with Poland this week despite suffering a knee injury which kept him out of Arsenal’s clash with newcastle.

The Germany international missed three months of football last season with a knee injury.

Özil is also understood to be available for Germany’s clash with Scotland next week.

Germany sit in second place in Group D with 13 points in six games.
