Arsenal beat Everton 2-1 to move into first place in the Premier League yesterday. Mesut Özil setup Olivier Giroud with the opening goal in what was his fifth assist in four games for the Gunners.
The World Cup winner has not had an easy ride in the British press since joining Arsenal on a record £42.5 million transfer in 2013. Özil has faced a lot of criticism during his time in England but has recently been winning over his detractors.
Sky Sports football pundit Jamie Redknapp praised Özil for his assist and described his left foot as being a thing of wonder.
“Özil who has a wonder of a left foot was given the time to deliver and it really was a lovely delivery,” Redknapp said speaking on Sky Sports after the game.
The World Cup winner has a total of five assists and two goals for the Gunners in all competitions this season.
The Gunners moved into first place following the win but Manchester City could overtake Arsenal with a win against rivals Manchester United.
