Arsenal team news: Wenger given major boost ahead of West Brom clash

Mesut Ozil missed last weekend’s goalless draw against Chelsea with a knee injury and did not feature mid-week in the League Cup against Doncaster either.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been given an injury boost after revealing that Ozil has returned to training.

The playmaker of Turkish origin will return to full team training today or tomorrow giving him a good chance of making the squad for the West Brom clash on Monday.

Wenger was quoted by the official Arsenal website as saying: “He is in training and will come back with the team training today or tomorrow.”

Ozil enjoyed a rare full pre-season with Arsenal and played 90 minutes in each of the Gunners first three league games of the season against Leicester, Stoke and Liverpool.

The 2014 World Cup winner also played against Bournemouth, but was left out of the Europa League game against Koln.

Wenger also revealed that Danny Welbeck will be out for the West Brom game with a groin injury.

“Danny Welbeck has a groin injury. He will be back, his target is Watford. That means after the international break. He won’t be available for England and not for us before the break,” he added.

Also Calum Chambers will be ruled out of action until the international break.
“Calum Chambers came off [against Doncaster] and will now be out until after the international break. He has a little recurrence of his hip problem,” he said.
