Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has underlined that he wants at least 10 goals from Mesut Özil this season.
Wenger stated that while he is happy with the performances Özil has been putting in for Arsenal he feels that the World Cup winner must increase his goal scoring record.
“But he doesn’t take enough chances when he is in a position where he can finish. He is conscious of it and wants to do it now. His main aspect will always be the intelligence of his passing, but we want 10 goals per season from him,” Wenger was quoted as saying by the Independent.
Özil would have to score almost as many goals as he has scored since joining Arsenal in 2013 over the 2015-16 season to hit Wenger’s target.
The 26-year-old has netted 12 times in 75 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.
The Arsenal star is renowned for his passing ability and setting up goals but not actually putting the ball in the back of the net himself. Özil already has an assist to his name this season and a grand total of 24 for the North London based club.
Özil starred in the Gunners 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the London derby on the weekend.
