Barcelona’s latest signing Arda Turan is yet to learn Spanish despite spending four years in La Liga.
The 28-year-old joined Atletico Madrid back in August 2011 for €12 million and remained at Atleti until this summer.
Turan moved to Barcelona on a five-year deal for €34 million earlier this month but will be unable to make his debut for the Catalan giants this year due to the transfer ban imposed on the club by FIFA.
During an interview with Barcelona’s official website, Luis Suarez stated that he is unable to communicate with Turan in Spanish. The Uruguay international went on to state that Turan is however able to speak a little bit of English.
“Arda Turan doesn’t speak much Spanish but we’re able to speak a little bit in English,” Suarez told Barcelona FC.
The Turkish international was expected to feature in the pre-season but the transfer ban also applies to friendly games.
Turan provided six assists and scored three goals in 46 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season.
