Brenden Rodgers on Can: ” He’ll prove to be a very good player”

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can

Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on his new transfer Emre Can following impressive displays against both Real Madrid and Chelsea.

The 20-year-old has settled into English football despite being hampered by an injury which kept him out of the the first six weeks of the season.

Can was a surprise inclusion in Liverpool’s starting XI which faced Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League but his performance was good enough for him to retain his place for Saturday’s game against Chelsea.

The Germany U20 international repaid his managers faith scoring a goal against Chelsea in the ninth minute.

“He’s a big, strong boy who is just coming back to fitness really,” Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com

“He can shoot from distance and got a good goal. He’s a young player that is developing very well and I’m sure over the next couple of years he’ll prove to be a very good player.

Can scored four goals and made five assists in 39 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen last season.
