Emre Can & Skrtel's absense will be an opportunity for other players says Liverpool keeper

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet stated that the absence of Emre Can and Martin Skrtel will not affect the team.

Mignolet underlined that it will be an opportunity for other players to prove themselves.

“I’ve always said everybody is ready when the gaffer asks them to do a job,” Mignolet told the official Liverpool website.

“Everybody works hard in training to make sure when they’re called upon they are there to put in a performance.

“If you’re a professional football player, you always have to be ready for when your chance comes about – and I’m sure everybody will be for Wednesday.”

Can is suspended for the FA Cup quarter-final tie against Blackburn Rovers after being sent off in the 4-1 defeat against Arsenal.

The red card was the first Can has picked up in a Liverpool shirt since joining in the summer from Bayer Leverkusen.

Skrtel is also suspended against Blackburn as is Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

Striker Mario Balotelli is out injured and will not be included in the squad ahead of the quarter-final.

Liverpool will face Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final if they progress past Blackburn.

The Reds could end up facing Arsenal again in the final if they make it past Blackburn and Aston Villa. Arsenal would also have to knock out Reading who they face in the semi-finals.
