Spartak Moscow striker Seydou Doumbia has completed his Newcastle United medical and is set to sign for the club according to Sky Sport Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Ivory Coast striker is unsettled at Roma after finding first team opportunities limited and is looking to move despite Rudi Garcia being fired and replaced by Luciano Spalletti.

Newcastle remain favourites to sign the athletic striker but have faced competition from a number of Premier League sides.

The Telegraph report that Doumbia has also attracted interest from fellow Premier League side Arsenal.

Fenerbahce have also been closely linked with Doumbia according got Eurosport following reports that head coach Vitor Pereira wants a new striker.

The Turkish Super League leaders currently have two first choice strikers in Robin van Persie and Fernandao. Moussa Sow and Dirk Kuyt left over the summer while Emmanuel Emenike is set to join West Ham on loan.

Doumbia spent the first half of the season on loan with CSKA Moscow, but the Russian club do not appear interested in making the move permanent.

The 28-year-old striker has five assists and 11 goals in 21 games for CSKA Moscow this season.

Doumbia joined Roma on a £12 million summer move and still has another three years left on his current contract.
