Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes Beşiktaş will prove to be tough opposition in the Europa League Round of 32.

“It is a tough game against Beşiktaş, a team that are obviously very strong in their own country,” Rodgers was quoted as saying on the official Liverpool website.

Rodgers also underlined that Beşiktaş have performed well against English opposition this season.

“They have got good experience of playing games in this country, you saw their recent games against Tottenham and Arsenal,” he added.

Beşiktaş beat Chelsea in a pre-season charity game and narrowly lost out 1-0 on aggregate against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League play-offs.

The Black Eagles also drew Tottenham in the Europa League Group C. Beşiktaş drew against Tottenham in London and beat Spurs 1-0 at the Atatürk Olympic stadium.

Beşiktaş topped their Europa League group without a single loss and are currently 1st in the Süper Lig on 47 points after 20 games.

The Turkish giants have an impressive record against English opposition this season but Beşiktaş lost 8-0 the last time they visited Anfield.

The Reds are currently in 7th place on 42 points after 24 games.
