Liverpool star Emre Can & Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil make the cut for Germany

Emre Can

Liverpool star Emre Can and and Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil have both been picked by Lowe for the Germany national team.

Can has been in great form for Liverpool recently and starred in the Reds side that knocked Manchester United out of the Europa League.

The 22-year-old has however, been playing prominently as a full-back for Germany.

Ozil has also enjoyed a rich vein of form providing more assists than any other player in Europe (19) and creating more chances that all his competition (115).

The national team only has two ethnic Turks selected for the latest call-up. Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan usually makes the cut but is a surprise omission.

Galatasaray striker Lukas Podolski has been included as has Mario Gomez who has arguably been the player of the season in Turkey scoring 21 goals for league leaders Besiktas.
