Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal sets sights on Liverpool target Hakan Calhanoglu

Manchester United’s manager Louis van Gaal has set his sights on the Bayer Leverkusen’s star man Hakan Çalhanoğlu according to the Italian sports website Tutto Mercato.

The report states that Van Gaal wants to add to Martial and Memphis Depay in January by bringing in the Turkish international. Liverpool are also in the race to sign the Bayer wonder-kid according to the Daily Star.

The Turkish international already has five goals and two assists to his name this season and has built a reputation as being a set-piece specialist. Çalhanoğlu takes just about ever corner for his side and has a phenomenal free-kick scoring record – 22 in the Bundesliga.

The Bayer Leverkusen man is regarded as being one of the best set-piece specialists in world football. Pep Guardiola recently revealed that he is a fan of the free-kick maestro, “Çalhanoğlu is one of the best free-kick takers in the Bundesliga.”

Çalhanoğlu is the sixth most valuable U-21 player in the world according to a recent study conducted by Soccerex.
