Manchester United attempted to sign Galatasaray target on deadline day

Manchester United attempted to sign Alexandre Pato on transfer deadline day according to the Brazilian international striker.

The former AC Milan forward claims that the Red Devils made a last ditch effort to bring him to Old Trafford but he was not informed about the offer.

“I received an offer from Manchester United two hours before the transfer window closed, but I was only told that afterwards. My focus is now here,” Pato told SporTV.

United ended up signing the French striker Anthony Martial for £36 million from Monaco.

Pato was closely linked with a move to Galatasaray over the summer by the Turkish newspaper Fanatik.

Galatasaray are on the look-out for a new striker following an injury to their top scorer Burak Yilmaz. The Turkish international is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks.

The 26-year-old has provided seven assist and found the back of the net on 13 occasions in 34 appearances for Sao Paulo this season.
