Mesut Ozil denies calling for Arsenal boss to get sacked

Arsene Wenger

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has denied rumours claiming that he demanded Arsene Wenger leave at the end of the season.

Ozil shared a tweet earlier today backing the Arsenal boss and underlining that the experience manager was one of the main reasons he decided to join the club.

The World Cup winner was said to have threatened to leave the north London based club if Arsene Wenger stays on as head coach at the end of the season according to the Daily Star [via Don Balon].

The story also reported that Ozil is fed up with failing to win the Premier League and that he is threatening to leave unless a more ambitious manager is appointed.

The report did seem out of character considering Ozil has always praised Wenger in the past and openly stated that the manager is one of the main reasons he signed for the club.

Ozil is currently on international duty with the Germany national team and is expected to feature in the friendly games against Germany and England.
