Mesut Özil has taken to twitter to praise the former Arsenal player Thierry Henry upon news of his retirement.

Henry announced his retirement from football after a trophy-laden 20-year career.

Özil posted a tweet along with the caption, “Once you enchanted all of us – now I can only say: Thanks for everything! @ThierryHenry #ArsenalLegend”

Henry scored 175 goals for Arsenal in the Premier League.

Özil has not featured for the Gunner since damaging his knee ligaments during a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in October.

The Arsenal playmaker has made two assists and scored one goal in nine appearances for the Noth-London based club this season.
