Neville also singled out Arsenal midfielders Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin for praise.

Özil was recently criticised for being too slow by former Arsenal player Gilberto Silva.

“I do really like him as a player but sometimes in the game he does look quite slow, although he has that quality to change the game,” Silva was quoted as saying in the Metro.

The World Cup winner made 44 passes at an 82 percent accuracy and was awarded a 7.3 rating according to Whoscored.

Özil has provided the most assists in the Premier League since returning from injury.

The World Cup winner has scored four goals and made seven assists in all competitions for the Gunners this season.

The Gunners will take on Bradford or Reading next in the FA Cup semi-final.

Arsenal will face Liverpool, Blackburn or Aston Villa if they progress to the FA Cup final.
