Middlesbrough & Leicester City join race for Van Persie

Middlesbrough and keen on signing Fenerbahce striker Robin van Persie according to the Sun.

The report claims that the newly promoted side want to bring in an experienced Premier League striker.

The Daily Star however, reported that Leicester City are favourites to sign the striker after he reportedly followed the club Twitter page.

The Daily Mail newspaper meanwhile report that West Ham United and Crystal Palace are both interested in the Netherlands international.

Jacobus Cornelis Vos from Van Persie’s management company refused to comment on speculation linking his client with a return to the Premier League when asked by Turkish-football.com.

According to the club president Aziz Yildirim, despite scoring 16 goals in the league for Fenerbahce this season, Van Persie has been linked with a move away this summer.

“Van Persie, we’re waiting for buyers, if he wants to be sold,” Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim reportedly told reporters.

Van Persie does have another two-years remaining on his current contract and has years of Premier League experience having played for both Arsenal and Manchester United. The experinced striker provided three assists and scored 22 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions for Fenerbahce this season.
