Newcastle team news: Star striker ruled out, rising star makes squad

Swansea host Newcastle at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday in the Premier League.

Newcastle will have Jonjo Shelvey available after returning from suspension.

The Magpies will however be without Aleksandar Mitrovic who is serving a three-match ban.

Newcastle will also be without Chancel Mbemba who has a hamstring injury.

Defender Paul Dummett is also out injured.

Rising star Dan Barlaser has made the provisional squad.

The midfielder of Turkish origin has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season.

The 20-year-old has made five appearances for the Magpies across the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy and the EFL Cup.

Barlaser will make his Premier League debut is head coach Rafa Benitez decides to give him playing time against the Swans.

The young midfielder was born in Gateshead but has represented both Turkey and England at youth international level.

Barlaser can play for Turkey as well as England due to having both British and Turkish heritage.
