Manchester City could welcome back summer signing Ilkay Gundogan going into the Manchester derby on Saturday 10 September after he shared a picture of himself training on Twitter.

Gundogan shared an image on his official Twitter account wearing training gear alongside fellow summer signing Leroy Sane.

Gundogan has yet to feature for City due to injury but considering he has now returned to training he may just be in for a shout against United.

The former Dortmund man would become the first Germany international of Turkish origin to play in a Manchester derby if he does end up making his debut against United.

Gundogan is one of two ethnic Turks currently contracted to City with the other being 19-year-old striker Enes Unal who is on loan at FC Twente in the Netherlands.

The City midfielder did enjoy a brief holiday before the international break and visited friends and family in Turkey.

While in Istanbul he also met Turkish television mogul Acun Ilicali and the owner of one of the cities most popular steakhouses, Nusret Gokce.
