Piers Morgan blames Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger for star's dip in form

Arsenal shareholder Piers Morgan has blamed Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger for Mesut Ozil’s recent dip in form.

The high-profile Gunners fan defended his club’s star playmaker after the Daily Mail suggested Arsenal should offload the Germany international this summer.

The 27-year-old looked set to smash Thierry Henry’s Premier League assist record of 20 after he set up 16 goals by the end of December.

However, since the turn of the year Ozil has provided just two assists in the league.

The 27-year-old playmaker could have more assists to his name had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates.  Ozil has the record for creating the highest amount (137) of goalscoring chances in a Premier League season, but the Gunners have the lowest goal record in the top four.

The Gunners payed out a 0-0 draw with Sunderland earlier today leaving them level on points with the Manchester City. Arsenal once again failed to capitilise on chances created by Ozil as they slip behind the City Blues in the Premier League.
