Lens has established himself as a first team regular under the stewardship of head coach Dick Advocaat.

The 28-year-old is also a fan favourite among the Fenerbahce fans. Not solely for his form either.

Lens returned early from mourning the death of his father a fortnight ago to play for Fenerbahce and provide the assist for the last-gasp assist that beat Osmanlispor.

The actions of Lens made him not only a Fenerbahce favourite but also won praise from rival club supporters.

Fenerbahce are keen on signing Lens on a permanent deal at the end of the season a source close to the club revealed to Turkish-Football but they have yet to agree on a transfer fee with Sunderland.
