Tiredness not an excuse for Liverpool's poor form, says Emre Can

Liverpool star Liverpool team news

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has stated that his side cannot use tiredness as an excuse for their current leagues position.

The Red’s slipped down to ninth place in the Premier League following their 2-2 draw with Sunderland last weekend. Liverpool were defeated by West Ham the ween before and were also eliminated from the FA Cup by the Hammers on Tuesday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are 12 points behind Manchester City who sit in fourth place. With just 13 games to go, a place in the Champions League next season is looking unlikely.

“Of course sometimes you are tired and everything,” Emre Can told SkySports News.

“But I think the most important thing is the mentality – if you say you are fit and want to go, then you can go every game.

Can went onto say, “Every team has a lot of games and I think that is no reason why we are where we are in the table.

“It is not what we want. But there is a long time to go and we have to keep it up and see what happens at the end of the season.”

Liverpool take on last placed Aston Villa this weekend in the league on and Can is expected to start after being rested against West Ham in the FA Cup.

The Red’s are currently in ninth place with 35 points in 25 games and can move up to seventh place with a win on Sunday against Villa.

Can has provided one assist and scored one goal in 34 appearances for Liverpool this season.
